Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many prosecutions were made by safety inspectors in respect of the construction industry in 1982 and to the nearest available date in 1983.

In 1982, Her Majesty's factory inspectors brought 405 prosecutions against employers engaged in construction activities. These 405 cases cover 819 informations laid, of which 732 resulted in convictions.
