§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will publish the rateable resource discounts of (a) London as a whole, (b) outer London, (c) inner London, (d) non-central inner London and (e) central inner London in each year since 1974–75.
§ Mr. WaldegraveIn 1981–82 the discounts were 23.5 per cent. for inner London and 10.6 per cent. for outer London. Since 1982–83 they have been 29.6 per cent. and 17.2 per cent. respectively. Under the rate support grant arrangements prior to 1981–82, there were no comparable resource discounts: London authorities were allowed to retain some of the benefit of their exceptional rateable resources, through the operation of the resource element and the London clawback arrangements.
