HC Deb 16 January 1984 vol 52 c83W
Mr. Park

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many inspectors are employed by the Health and Safety Executive in the West Midlands region: and how many premises they are responsible for.

Mr. Gummer

Fifty-three inspectors are employed by the Health and Safety Executive at its West Midlands area office. Some of these inspectors are also responsible for neighbouring areas and other specialist inspectors not based in the West Midlands have responsibility for some workplaces there. The executive is responsible for about 22,500 premises in the West Midlands county; this figure does not include transient workplaces such as construction sites.
