HC Deb 16 January 1984 vol 52 c83W
Mr. Porter

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what grants he has made in the current year to voluntary bodies, charities and pressure groups.

Mr. Alan Clark

Grants made by this Department and the Manpower Services Commission appear on the face of the Estimates for which my Department accounts (Class IV Votes 13, 14 and 16). A large number of voluntary bodies receive grants for participation in the youth opportunities programme, youth training scheme, community enterprise programme, community programme and voluntary projects programme. It is regretted that details of payments made to particular bodies could be identified only at disproportionate cost.

The Main Estimates for 1983–84 also include £5.7 million in respect of grants to voluntary bodies for the provision of training and sheltered employment for disabled people, and a further £25 million is allocated to the National Association of Youth Clubs for the community industry scheme.
