HC Deb 16 January 1984 vol 52 cc127-8W
Sir Hugh Rossi

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the composition of the working party to look into the operation of the artificial limb appliance centres; who has been appointed chairman; and if he will extend its terms of reference to include an inquiry into the prescribing and fitting of artificial limbs having regard to the experiences abroad of similar services, the care and after care of patients and the overall cost of the service.

Mr. Newton

Professor Ian McColl, Professor of Surgery at the United Medical Schools of Guy's and St. Thomas's Hospitals, has agreed to chair the working party on the services of artificial limb and appliance centres. I hope to announce the names of the other members shortly.

The terms of reference I announced in my reply to my hon. Friend on 25 November— [Vol. 49, c. 348]— would allow the working party to consider the matters he suggests.
