Figures for holdings of financial assets by pension funds are published inBusiness Monitor MQ5. The latest figures show that at the end of 1982 he estimated value of private sector pension funds was £48,260 million. Of that £10,643 million was held in British Government and Government guaranteed securities; £5,227 million in property; £21,436 million in United Kingdom-quoted shares; and £6,001 million in overseas shares.

These figures relate to the self-administered pension and superannuation funds of the private sector.

There are no separate figures available for insured schemes in the private sector.
