§ Mr. Wrigglesworthasked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will have discusions with the China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation or its West German agents, with a view to disposing of British nuclear waste in China.
§ Mr. Giles ShawMy Department is investigating the Chinese proposal. However, we understand that the China Nuclear Energy Industry Corporation has so far offered to accept spent fuel only; that is fuel discharged from the220W reactor but not yet reprocessed, rather than nuclear waste. The United Kingdom has adequate storage facilities for spent fuel arisings.
