§ Mr. WaldegraveThe number of civil servants employed in Ordnance Survey 1 April 1979 was 3,630, By 1 April 1984 this number will have decreased by 815 to 2,815. During 1984–85 the Directorate of Overseas Surveys, which is at present a specialist unit of the Overseas Development Administration, will transfer to Ordnance Survey and as a result the strength of Ordnance Survey will increase by 133 to 2,948 by 1 April 1985. Thereafter it is planned to reduce the Ordnance Survey to 2,920 civil servants by 1 April 1987.
