HC Deb 28 February 1984 vol 55 cc159-60W
55. Mr. Terry Fields

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will hold consultations with disabled persons' organisations on the issue of discrimination against disabled people.

Mr. Newton

Ministers have frequent meetings, both formal and informal, with representatives of disabled peoples' organisations. These contacts provide opportunities for discussion of all matters of concern to disabled people, and we seen no need for specific and separate arrangements of the kind suggested.

58. Mr. Sean Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many recent cases of discrimination against disabled people have been submitted to him.

Mr. Newton

Since the reply I gave to the right hon. Member for Manchester, Wythenshawe (Mr. Morris) on 24 November last year at column286, we have received four further cases of alleged discrimination.
