§ Mr. Frank Fieldasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science which voluntary organisations currently receiving grants from his Department will be receiving reductions in their grants.
§ Sir Keith JosephThe list of voluntary bodies receiving grants from the Department in 1983–84 was set out in my reply to a question from my hon. Friend the Member for Rugby and Kenilworth (Mr. Pawsey) on 22 July 1983 at c.244–45. The majority are national voluntary youth organisations and the total recurrent grant to such organisations was increased by some 6 per cent. in 1983–84. However, as a result of the annual review of grants to such bodies for headquarters administrative expenditure the following organisations received slightly smaller grants in that year than in 1982–83:
- Anglican Young People's Association
- Boys' Brigade
- Catholic Youth Service Council
- Co-operative Union
- Foudroyant Trust
- Girl Guides Association
- Girls' Brigade
- Girls' Venture Corps
- National Association for Asian Youth
- National Association of Boys' Clubs
- National Association of Youth Clubs
- Outward Bound Trust
- Save the Children
- Sea Cadet Association
- UK Federation of Jazz Bands
- Youth Hostels Association
Grants to the following national voluntary organisations were also reduced; in most cases because development projects aided for a specified period had ended or were coming to an end:
- Association of Muslim Youth UK
- Duke of Edinburgh's Award
- Endeavour Training
- United Reformed Church
- Caribbean Communications Project
- National Union of Townswomen's Guilds
28 - Standing Committee on the Education and Training of Teachers
- Standing Conference on School's Science and Technology
