Mr. Maples

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many representations he has received in relation to the proposal to make the south circular road a trunk road how many of such representations have been from residents or associations of residents of areas through which the south circular road runs; and, of such representations from residents and residents' associations, how many were in favour and how many against the proposal.

Specific comments about the south circular road are included in 28 of the letters we have received. The two local residents associations and 16 individual local residents who have written are opposed to trunking.

asked the Secretary of State for Transport when he expects to be able to announce a decision on the proposal to make the south circular road a trunk road.

When I have completed my consideration of all the various matters on which our consultation document on roads and traffic management in London invited views.
