HC Deb 27 February 1984 vol 55 c41W
Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what information he has as to progress being made in securing management agreements in respect of Halvergate marshes; and when he expects to make a statement on the future of the marshes.

Mr. Waldegrave

We have authorised the Countryside Commission to offer the Broads Authority an enhanced rate of grant towards the cost of management agreements. The proportion of cost that may be paid has been increased from 50 per cent. to 75 per cent. This authorisation at present covers 475 acres of land in the Severn Mile/Berney level. I understand the authority wishes to discuss the rate of grant further with Ministers and I await its approach.
