HC Deb 27 February 1984 vol 55 c1W
42. Mr. Canavan

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will make a statement about the recent donor's conference about aid for Grenada.

Mr. Raison

A donors meeting was held in Barbados on 6 February at the request of the Interim Council of Grenada. Further discussions took place at a meeting of the Caribbean Group for Co-operation in Economic Development in Washington on 13–17 February. I attended the Caribbean Group meeting, where I had useful discussions with the chairman of the Interim Council, Mr. Brathwaite, on Grenada's priorities for British aid. I believe that substantial assistance will be forthcoming from the donor community.
