How many applications for parole or release on licence from prisoners in each of the classes of offender to which the Home Secretary referred in his speech at the Conservative Party conference have been dealt with since that speech was made; and how many of the applications in each category have been granted.

This information is not available and could be obtained only at disproportionate cost.

However, we shall be making an assessment of the effects of the new policy during the first six months of 1984, and I hope this will be available after the Summer Recess.
