HC Deb 24 February 1984 vol 54 cc643-4W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if will list the totals of cash spent annually in the National Health Service in the north west region, including each of the district health authorities within that region, since and including 1979 and publish the estimate of the amount of National Health Service cash available for each of the years ahead until 1987–88.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The annual accounts of the relevant health authorities show that the cash spent in the north western region on all services except payments to contractors providing family practitioner services was:

£ million
1979–80 514.2
1980–81 664.4
1981–82 764.5
1982–83 812.1

Present allocations for 1983–84 and 1984–85 are £834.5 million and £866 million respectively. Planning assumptions for 1985–86 and 1986–87 will be announced in due course. There were very minor boundary changes in 1982 for which the historic figures have not been adjusted.
