asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will estimate the increase in local authorities' revenue if rates are levied on yacht moorings.

Moorings are currently liable to be assessed for rating purposes. However, many moorings effectively escape rating because valuation officers and rating authorities have difficulty in tracing the occupiers, on whom they must serve the appropriate notices. The

Kingdom Government to inform the Belgian Government of any incident involving radioactive discharges in the atmosphere or sea.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if it has been necessary for the United Kingdom Government to inform the Government of the Irish Republic of any incident involving radioactive discharges in the atmosphere or sea.

No. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State met the Irish Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Spring, last week and was able to give assurances that the recent incident at Sellafield had not posed any threat to the Irish coast.
