34. Mr. O'Brien

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations he has received on the subject of his White Paper, "Training for Jobs."

Mr. Peter Morrison

I refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend's reply to my hon. Friend the Member for Saffron Walden (Mr. Haselhurst) earlier today.

54. Mr. Thurnham

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many adult training places will be provided in the Bolton area during the coming year under proposals outlined in the White Paper, "Training for Jobs."

Mr. Peter Morrison

In the area covered by its office for Greater Manchester north, which includes Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Wigan, the Manpower Services Commission plans to provide 1,076 places during 1984–85 under the training opportunities scheme.

Plans for additional pilot schemes, described in the White Paper "Training for Jobs" — Cmnd. 9135 — are under consideration.
