HC Deb 21 February 1984 vol 54 c516W
Sir John Biggs-Davison

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will make a statement about the distribution of Government publications among inmates of Her Majesty's prisons in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Scott

In general, prisoners in Northern Ireland are allowed to purchase Government publications or to have them sent in by relatives; or a prisoner may, if he wishes, request such a publication through the prison library. Restrictions may be imposed, however, in particular cases on the grounds of discipline or good order or the prevention of crime.
