HC Deb 20 February 1984 vol 54 c400W
Mr. Mason

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list the number of spoil disposal schemes in Yorkshire which are under consideration by his Department as distinct from the research studies by Ove Arup and Partners.

Mr. Giles Shaw

As my hon. Friend the Under-Secretary of State for the Environment explained in his answer to the right hon. Member on 15 February at c.180, the Government intend to help finance a small number of colliery spoil disposal schemes as part of its commitment to explore cost-effective and environmentally acceptable ways of disposing of spoil. The Department of the Environment has the lead in this work but my Department and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food are also involved. My Department has no other spoil disposal schemes under consideration.
