HC Deb 17 February 1984 vol 54 c343W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what recent representations he has had about improving access to the built environment for disabled people; if there is any further action he is taking; and if he will make a statement.

Sir George Young

We recently consulted on a proposal to incorporate into the Building Regulations a requirement to provide means of access and facilities for disabled people in buildings open to the public. We invited over 400 organisations to comment on our proposals* to date we have received just over 100 responses.

My right hon. Friend is considering carefully all the views put to him and will announce his decision as soon as possible.
