HC Deb 16 February 1984 vol 54 c324W
Mr. Gordon Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, following the cancellation of the visit of specialist claims control to Bathgate, he will now exempt areas of high unemployment and communities facing closures and redundancies from future visits by specialist claims control.

Dr. Boyson

The visit of a specialist control team planned to start at Bathgate on 6 February 1984 was postponed until reports on the local situation could be assessed. It is not the Department's practice to cancel these cyclical programmes because of local redundancies.
