HC Deb 16 February 1984 vol 54 c300W
Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the estimated waiting time for patients in Northern Ireland admitted from the waiting lists of all specialties.

Mr. Chris Patten

During 1982, the latest year for which this information is available, 89 per cent. of patients admitted to hospital were on waiting lists for less than six months; 7 per cent. waited less than one year; 3 per cent. less than two years; and 1 per cent. for two years or over.

Rev. Ian Paisley

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the waiting lists for Ards, Bangor, and Dundonald hospitals for each of the five previous years and distinguish between urgent and non-urgent cases.

Mr. Chris Patten

It is not possible to distinguish between urgent and non-urgent cases. The waiting lists for each of the three hospitals at 31 March each of the last five years were as follows:

Number
1979 18
1980 10
1981 152
1982 133
1983 143
