Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list (a) the surveys or reviews of definitive maps of public rights of way in respect of which he has given a direction to the surveying authority under section 55(1) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, stating in each case whether the direction was to complete or abandon the review and (b) those surveys or reviews of definitive maps of public rights of way in progress on 28 February 1983 in respect of which he has yet to give a direction to the surveying authority, stating in each case when he expects to give that direction.
