HC Deb 15 February 1984 vol 54 c217W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will examine the incidence of truancy in (a) grammar schools and (b) comprehensive schools; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Dunn

I am not convinced that the cost of a national survey on these lines would be justified; but each local education authority should keep a constant watch on attendance figures to see how the whole range of its policies may be affecting attendance rates.
