HC Deb 15 February 1984 vol 54 c192W
44. Sir Hector Monro

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland what is the number of successful prosecutions, respectively, in 1983 for poaching salmon in rivers, and around the coast.

The Solicitor-General for Scotland

Figures for prosecutions for offences relating to salmon and freshwater fisheries in 1983 are not yet available. However, in respect of illegal fishing for salmon at sea, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland reported 30 cases to the Crown Office in 1983. Prosecutions were commenced in 25 of them. There have been convictions in three cases and 22 other cases are pending.
