HC Deb 15 February 1984 vol 54 c237W
Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the cost to the national insurance fund of inflation-proofing contracted-out pensions each year since 1978; and what estimates he makes for each of the next few years after 1984.

Dr. Boyson

The cost to the national insurance fund of inflation-proofing the guaranteed minimum pension has been as follows:

£ million
1979–80 Less than 1
1980–81 2
1981–82 6
1982–83 11
1983–84 21

The cost in future years will depend on the rate of inflation.
