asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what effect on overall unemployment figures he expects to occur if the Nissan motor company sets up a plant in the United Kingdom.

As my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State indicated to the House following his statement on 1 February at c. 267 the Department's estimate, based on some central assumptions, is that about 6,000 net jobs could be created as a result of the project.
