HC Deb 15 February 1984 vol 54 c230W
Mr. Jim Callaghan

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many persons were awaiting admission to geriatric and psychogeriatric hospitals at the most recent date for which figures are available (a) nationally, (b) in the Bury area health authority and (c) in the Rochdale area health authority.

Mr. John Patten

On 31 March 1983 there were 3,523 people awaiting admission to geriatric beds in NHS hospitals in England. Neither Bury nor Rochdale district health authorities reported any waiting lists for admission to geriatrics beds at 31 March 1983. Comprehensive information on the number of people waiting for admission to psychogeriatric beds is not available centrally.
