HC Deb 14 February 1984 vol 54 c168W
Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what Department of Agriculture and Fisheries land has been sold since 1980 at or under 30 per cent. of the district valuer's valuation in Scotland; what moneys have been realised from the sales; and if he will give the relevant figures by constituency and year.

Mr. John MacKay

Under a scheme introduced on 1 April 1980, tenants of leasehold and landhold holdings on the Secretary of State's land settlement estates can purchase their units at 30 per cent. of the open market vacant possession agricultural value as assessed by the district valuer. The number of holdings sold together with the sums realised is as follows:

Number of holdings sold Receipts

£

1 April 1980 to 31 December 1980 10 135,825
1981 115 1,810,592
1982 386 6,326,205
1983 212 4,737,517

The information is not readily available by constituencies.

No holdings are sold at less than 30 per cent. of the valuation.
