HC Deb 13 February 1984 vol 54 c40W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Solicitor-General for Scotland whether judges are required on appointment to inform the Lord Chancellor of membership of any private organisation which may influence their behaviour.

The Attorney-General

I have been asked to reply.

I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave him on 6 February 1984 at c. 417. It is well recognised that those who take up judicial office must give up any activity which conflicts with their judicial duties.
