§ Mr. WaddingtonInformation is available only for the Indian subcontinent. In the first three quarters of 1983, 570 husbands and male fiances in the Indian subcontinent were refused entry clearance for leave to enter the United Kingdom under the 1983 immigration rules, compared with 1,300 applications decided (granted or refused). Information on applications newly received is published in the quarterly Home Office statistical bulletin "Control of Immigration Statistics" (table 7 of issue 23/83).
