asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he is considering giving any financial assistance to the Association of Community Health Councils of England and Wales; and if he will make a statement.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the last annual payment made to support the Association of Community Health Councils; why he has discontinued this funding; and if he will now reconsider his decision.

The Department's last grant to the association was of £25,000 for the financial year 1982–83. I would refer the hon. Member to my reply of 24 January 1984 to the hon. Member for Crewe and Nantwich (Mrs. Dunwoody) at c.557–8.
