§ Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Defence when he last carried out an analysis of information required for ethnic monitoring of his Department; and whether he proposes to take steps within his Department to comply with the monitoring provisions of the Commission for Racial Equality's code on ethnic monitoring.
§ Mr. PattieInformation on the ethnic origins of staff, needed for systematic ethnic monitoring, has not been collected in the past within the Ministry of Defence. However, the MOD is currently taking part in the surveys of the ethnic origins of non-industrial civil servants in the north west and the county of Avon announced by my hon. Friend the Minister of State, Treasury in the House of Commons on 24 March 1983—[Vol. 39, c.461.] I will be considering, in consultation with my colleagues from other Departments, how to proceed once the results of these surveys are known.
