HC Deb 08 February 1984 vol 53 c621W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what financial assistance he is able to make available for the reconstruction or repair of listed buildings damaged by fire.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Grants made in respect of works to listed buildings could be provided in cases of fire damage if the specific criteria governing such grant schemes were met. For example, grants could be made under the Historic Buildings and Ancient Monuments Act 1953 towards the cost of eligible works to buildings of outstanding architectural or historic interest, whether damaged by fire or not, if the normal criteria were met.
