HC Deb 08 February 1984 vol 53 c621W
Mr. Patrick Thompson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether he is satisfied with the number of part-time routes available for people holding HND or equivalent B/Tec qualifications in applied sciences or technology to reach graduate status; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Brooke

The number of students seeking to achieve graduate status by this route is relatively small. Regional advisory councils will look sympathetically on applications for approval of such courses where colleges can demonstrate sufficient local demand, but it would not be academically or financially acceptable to run courses for very small numbers of students.
