HC Deb 08 February 1984 vol 53 c661W
Mr. Redmond

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what quota of itinerant sites his Department has fixed for Doncaster metropolitan borough council before designation can be applied for.

Mr. MacFarlane

My right hon. Friend does not fix quotas for site provision. Consideration of the designation of a district for the purposes of section 12 of the Caravan Sites Act 1968, as amended, is in most cases given on the basis of joint representations from the district and county authorities concerned, after appropriate consultation, that adequate provision has been made for the gipsies who reside in or resort to the area in question.
