§ Mr. Sternasked the Prime Minister if Her Majesty's Government will consider amending sections 226 and 227 of the Taxes Act 1970 and section 63 and schedule 16 to the Social Security Act 1970 and regulations made thereunder to permit the payment of a transfer value from an exempt approved pension scheme to a retirement annuity value approved under the aforesaid section 226.
§ The Prime MinisterI shall bear my hon. Friend's suggestion in mind. But it would not be appropriate to make any such change until the inquiry into provision for retirement, currently being conducted by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services, has been completed.
