Mr. Gerald Howarth

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the size of the Advisory Council on Energy Conservation at the time of publication of its fifth report, Energy Paper No. 52; how many other individuals were co-opted on to or acted as assessors for working groups; and what proportion of those serving on or for the advisory council were employed directly in the manufacture or installation of energy conservation goods or materials.

The size of the council was 19 members; 37 other individuals were co-opted or acted as assessors for working groups. None were employed directly in the activities referred to.
