Mr. Penhaligon

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will list for the most recent convenient year the level of expenditure per pupil in primary and secondary schools for each of the shire counties.

The latest available information is published by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, in its "Education Statistics 1983–84 Estimates", a copy of which is available in the Library. The figures are as follows:
