asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on his recent visit to Merseyside.

I visited Merseyside on 30 January 1984. During my visit I held discussions with the leaders of Merseyside county council. I also met the leaders of Sefton borough council and toured various sites within the borough. I opened the Orrell Lodge sheltered housing development in Bootle and inspected new developments at Waverley Park and the Ainsdale Lido.
