Mr. Winnick

asked the Prime Minister how many prosecutions in recent years have involved a relationship between trade union membership and activity and breaches of the Official Secrets Act involving espionage for a foreign power.

The Prime Minister

Since 1979, five people have been prosecuted under section 1(f) of the Official Secrets Act 1911 and/or section 7 of the Official Secrets Act 1920. Of these, one person is known to have been a member of a trade union.
