asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will compare the number of male fiancés entering and seeking entry from the Indian Sub-continent in 1983 and 1982.

Six hundred and sixty male fiancés were admitted to the United Kingdom from the Indian Subcontinent in the first three quarters of 1983, compared with 740 for the corresponding period of 1982. One thousand eight hundred and ninety male fiancés applied for entry clearance in the Indian Sub-continent in the first three quarters of 1983, compared with 670 in the corresponding period of 1982.
