HC Deb 02 February 1984 vol 53 cc323-4W
32. Mr. Wigley

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is satisfied that the fabric of hill farming will not be jeopardised by changes currently being considered by the European Economic Community Commission.

Mr. Jopling

I am satisfied that the present Commission proposals for a new structures regulation will permit the United Kingdom to maintain its system of support to hill farmers. I recognise the vital importance of this system to our hill areas and am determined that it should continue.
