HC Deb 20 December 1984 vol 70 cc279-80W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy, of the total anticipated cost of the projected Sizewell pressurised water reactor at £1,147 million, what value of order he estimates will be placed in the United Kingdom and allocated to contractors abroad, respectively.

Mr. Goodlad

The Central Electricity Generating Board expects that approximately 7 per cent. of the total cost of the Sizewell B project would be accounted for by contracts placed abroad. Of these contracts, about half of the value would be for plant and equipment, and the remainder for licence fees, software and other services.

Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what he assesses to be the value of uranium fuel used in Sizewell B.

Mr. Goodlad

Approximately 5,400 tonnes of uranium would be required to fuel the station over its expected lifetime. The value would depend on market prices in future years.
