HC Deb 20 December 1984 vol 70 c279W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will list the nuclear power stations under construction with expected capacities and dates of completion and those planned specifying the capacity envisaged.

Mr. Goodlad

One nuclear power station is currently under construction by the CEGB. This station, Heysham II, is an advanced gas cooled reactor, with two 660 megawatt reactors. It is expected to be completed during 1987–88. In addition, on 30 January 1981, the CEGB submitted an application to build a pressurised water reactor of 1110 megawatts capacity at Sizewell B. This application is currently the subject of a public inquiry. Details of the proposed station are given in the board's proof of evidence to the inquiry. Matters concerning power stations in Scotland are the responsibility of my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland.
