HL Deb 20 December 1984 vol 458 c761WA
Lord Oram

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What comments they have made or propose to make to the Food and Agriculture Organisation on the 7th Draft of its International Code of Conduct on the Distribution and Use of Pesticides.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Trade and Industry (Lord Lucas of Chilworth)

The present draft of the Code of Conduct was received by the Government relatively recently. It is a wide ranging and important document, and comments on it are being assembled at the moment. In its present form, some changes in emphasis appear to be called for if the original objective of achieving safe and efficacious use of pesticides in developing countries is to be met.
