§ Mr. Alfred Morrisasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if there is any action he will be taking on the recommendation from the Hospital Consultants and specialists association's inquiry that medical training should include specified minimum periods of study and practice in the non-acute sector.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeWe have told the Hospital Consultants and Specialists Association that we share its concern that the less popular specialties should be adequately staffed by doctors of high quality. This would imply a broader range of experience and training, both undergraduate and postgraduate, which are matters for the General Medical Council, universities, royal colleges and other independent bodies responsible for the content of medical training.
