§ Mr. Freemanasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will consider amendment to companies' legislation to permit public companies with substantial numbers of shareholders to hold a series of general meetings in different parts of the United Kingdom, all to constitute one annual general meeting subject to cumulative voting.
§ Mr. FletcherThe Companies Acts impose very few restrictions on the holding of company meetings and it is not clear that changes in the law are, at present, necessary. However, I am always ready to consider ways and means of encouraging and facilitating shareholder participation in company affairs.
