HC Deb 19 December 1984 vol 70 c226W
Mr. Andrew F. Bennett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many unemployed people in receipt of supplementary benefit receive the heating allowance; and what this figure represents as a percentage of the total unemployed supplementary benefit population.

Mr. Whitney

Provisional estimates suggest that in December 1983 about 600,000 unemployed people were receiving supplementary benefit heating additions; this represents about 33 per cent. of the number of unemployed people we estimate were receiving supplementary benefit in December 1983.
