HC Deb 19 December 1984 vol 70 c191W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his latest estimate of the sum which the United Kingdom will have paid to the Common Market, net of any repayments, during the calendar year 1984.

Mr. Ian Stewart

[pursuant to his reply, 18 December 1984]: The Government's latest estimate of the United Kingdom's net payments to European Community Institutions in 1984–85 and later years will be published in the next public expenditure White Paper. The calendar year is not an accounting period for purposes of United Kingdom expenditure and annual figures for United Kingdom payments by calendar year are therefore available only in arrears.
